A horror action adventure game with an FPP camera. In Crisol: Theater of Idols we play as a soldier travelling through a cursed baroque island of Tormentosa. He must face various dangers and the game's unique mechanic is using our own blood to power our weapons.
Crisol: Theater of Idols is an action adventure game, maintained in the horror convention. The game was developed by the Spanish Vermila Studios and represents their debut project.
In Crisol: Theater of Idols we view events from a first-person perspective (FPP).
The adventure leads us through narrow city streets, gloomy landscapes, and ruins. Animated statues are some of the threats we must face. They can vary in size, resistance to damage, and attack power. They may be treated as standard adversaries or as bosses who are much more powerful.
The protagonist eliminates enemies, making use of weapons (pistols, shotguns) and combat skills. Since they use his own blood, we must constantly be on guard, as each attack drains a bit of the hero's vital strength, making combat a constant balancing act on the edge of life and death.
As we progress, we gain access to new weapons. Additionally, over time we develop the protagonist, which increases his combat potential.
Crisol: Theater of Idols takes us to the island of Tormentosa, located in the baroque, fantasy land of Hispania, which is a result of historical events, folklore, and the religion of the real Spain. The main character of the game is a soldier named Gabriel. He arrives here on the orders of the sun god to fulfill his divine mission and uncover the terrifying secrets of this place and put an end to the macabre customs of its inhabitants.

Game Ratings for Crisol: Theater of Idols Video Game.
COGconnected: 75 / 100 by Mark Steighner
A sequel or big update might smooth out some rough mechanics, but as it stands, Crisol: Theater of Idols is worth a look for fans of first-person shooters or action-adventure games with puzzles, mysteries, and exploration.
Gamer Social Club: 8 / 10 by Mark Pell
Accomplished storytelling intertwined with satisfying gunplay and a truly tremendous island to explore, Crisol stands tall as an excellent AA horror title in a year where the genre will see some big hitters. Aside from a couple of over complicated, puzzles I sincerely hope this isn’t the last horror shooter we see from Vermila.
GameSpot: 6 / 10
The atmosphere of the shooter is delightfully spooky, and the Spanish influences make for a narrative backdrop and lore that you want to sink your teeth into. But too often, Crisol is held back by its gameplay. The blood-for-bullets mechanic adds some fun strategic depth, but the overall experience is held back by repetitive enemy design and arena layouts. Better single-player first-person shooters can be found elsewhere.
